Lockwood PTAs first time golf tournament fundraiser is a huge success, advancing just over $10,000 towards the Lockwood Lion’s Lair 2.0 playground goal.
Twenty teams participated in the first ever ‘Golf “Fore!” Lion’s Lair 2.0 golf tournament held on August 21st, 2015 at Yegen Golf Club in support of bringing back a new playground to the school and Lockwood community. Through sponsorships, team registrations, and event day income, the event raised just over $10,000 to go directly to the Lions Lair 2.0 community project in Lockwood, MT. The project is facilitated by the Lockwood PTA.
The event included an 18-hole scramble tournament with flag prizes offered on every hole, additional hole contests and incentives, 1st-3rd place prizes, a BBQ and awards ceremony that followed with a plethora of prizes given out.
“As a first time event, the organizers knocked it out of the park!” revered Susanne Vinton, School Board Chair for Lockwood School District #26. “It was extremely well organized, and ran smoothly…nothing was overlooked!” Even the volunteers were described as “energetic” and “going above and beyond.” Nic Talmark, one of the co-chairs of the event, was very appreciative of all the volunteers, sponsors and organizers of the event. “This truly exceeded any of my expectations. I’m amazed at how much has been done by everyone during the whole process…great work by all!”
Addressing the Lion’s Lair 2.0 playground fundraiser project, school board chair Susanne Vinton marveled, “I am continually amazed by the energy and enthusiasm from the Lion’s Lair committee. These are creative, engaged people who want to get things done…that’s how we do it in Lockwood!”
With the recent success of the golf tournament, current progress advances to just over $125,000 towards the final $230,000 Lion’s Lair 2.0 fundraiser goal.
