Lockwood Fire Chief John Staley informed the board at their meeting last Wednesday that he plans to retire at the end of the year. He said that he was giving them advance information so they will have time to find a replacement.
Staley has served as Lockwood’s fire chief for almost ten years. He said that it has been “the most rewarding part of his 50-year career.”
Staley began his career in 1976 in Quincy, Illinois. He served with the Billings Fire Department for 26 years resigning with the rank of interim fire chief to accept the Fire Chief position with Thornton, Colorado. After service with Thornton, he accepted the position with Lockwood.
