Lockwood High School to Hold First-Ever Homecoming Parade

by Michael J. Marino

Lockwood Student Council director, Carrie Schmidt, said the school will have its first-ever Homecoming Parade beginning at 11:00 am on October 1, 2022, as a new addition to the festivities already in place for homecoming week.

Floats will begin lining up near the corner of Hwy. 87 East and Old Hardin Rd. at 10:00 am, and the parade will continue along Hwy. 87 to Stonehaven Trail. As of press time, Schmidt said each grade level will have a float, as well as the cheerleaders, homecoming royalty nominees, the Kiwanis Club, and FSA club.

This spring will mark the graduation of the very first senior class from Lockwood High School, so Schmidt said the Student Council has been working to establish some traditions for the school to follow in years to come.

After the parade, there will be volleyball games beginning at 1:00 pm, followed by the football game which starts at 7:00 pm. Finally, the Homecoming Dance will be from 9:00-11:30 pm, where Schmidt said the homecoming royalty winners will be announced. “Students will choose a senior for King and Queen, and a junior for Prince and Princess,” said Schmidt.

Schmidt also mentioned that if anyone in the community would like to include a float in the parade, they will need to sign a waiver, and interested readers should reach out to her at 406-839-2177.
