Meet the Candidates for HD 56 Replacement

The public is invited to a candidate forum to meet all those vying to Represent House District 56 from Huntley through Lockwood that extends to Blue Creek and Briarwood.  The pubic forum, organized by the Yellowstone County Republican Central Committee is scheduled for 6pm at the Lockwood School Sturdevant Gym.  10 Candidates submitted a 400 word introduction of themselves that was published in the Yellowstone County News this last week in preparation of the meeting.

The Republican Central Committee will then submit three names to the Yellowstone County Commissioners for approval.  If the County Commissioners don’t approve one of the three names, then another 3 names will be submitted.  The County Commissioners will then choose among those 6 names.

The replacement process was initiated when 2 term Represenatative Jonathan McNiven was re-elected for a third term of which he announced his stepping down due to family and personal business obligations after being re-elected again.

McNiven stated in last week’s paper and his column called “McNiven’s Meanderings” that, “As for my wife and I, this is the right decision at this present time.”

Yellowstone County Commissioners have chosen Tuesday December 9th to start interviewing those three names that are submitted and recommended from the evening before forum.

The 10 candidates vying for the HD56 vacancy submitted thier names to the Yellowstone County News are the following:

Tony O’Donnell

Barry Usher

Mick McCarthy

Krayton Kerns

Dennis Lenz

Eric Olsen

Joshua Sizemore

Mark Morse

Tom Richmond

Barron Parks

Check this last week’s Yellowstone County Newspaper for each candidate’s introduction to the public.  Other candidates may also submitt thier info to the Central Committee up to the time of the Forum on Monday.
