Lockwood Student Wins Second Place in Essay

Rachel Clayton - 2nd Place in Elks Lodge Essay ContestLockwood School District has another reason to be proud of a student.  The Billings Elks Lodge Awarded Rachel Clayton, a 6th grader at Lockwood School, 2nd place at the Awards Banquet on May 13th in honor of her achievement of 2nd Place in Division I which consisted of 5th and 6th graders in the State of Montana.  Out of 110 essays, Rachel placed 2nd.

The topic chosen this year was “Americanism, What does Veterans Day Mean to Me?” With her 2nd place finish in her essay, she also received $75.00 check as her prize.  The awards banquet and dinner awarded other scholarship winners as well as Students of the Year Awards, Most Valuable Student Scholarship awards and 18 Memorial Scholarship Awards each worth $1,000 to go towards College.

Rachel was accompanied by her family and other award recipients.

Congrats to Rachel for her good work and example representing Lockwood School, teachers, veterans, and family.
